Double the joy and energy

Double the joy and energy

One of my favorite things is when my boys wake up in the morning and climb into my bed. They talk about what we’re going to do that day. Then they begin to play and roughhouse—5-year-old boys are big bundles of oomph! When they get out of hand, I jump out of bed to get coffee and start my day.

Let me tell you, my boys have an unbelievable amount of energy. It can be a struggle to keep up with them. If I don’t go to bed as soon as they do, it’s really hard to be up from 6 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. and have constant commotion that is Jax and Jaid during their waking hours. My boys are very active, and I have to fill every minute of the day for them.

I recently moved and needed to decide between having a backyard and a swimming pool. It’s hot in the summer, and the boys love to swim. So the pool won. But I still needed a dry place for them to be able to run around and play. So I converted the pool house into a playroom for the boys. It has a big, comfy couch and toys. Since they love soccer, I decorated one wall with “Shoot for the Goal” with the “o” made to look like a ball. I put a chalk board against another wall so they could write and draw and create. Outside, there’s a small area where we put a basketball hoop. The pool is great for swimming, but they need a place to run around and burn some energy outside of the water, so I am grateful to have both.
